The Elgin Marbles and the Acropolis Museum

I blogged at The Ballroom Blog about the debate over the Pantheon Marbles in the British Museum and whether they should be returned to Greece. A commenter brought up the fact that the new Acropolis Museum in Athens was built over the remains of an ancient building. The excavations are visible and will eventually be accessible to the public. Here's a photo I took from above.

Incredible! Archaeology has always been a secret passion of mine. I even studied some in college; had I been better at languages I was seriously considering majoring in it. Miranda, you are so fortunate to have seen all of this beauty in person. : )

Thanks, Amy. Travel is always fascinating and luckily people speak English everywhere. In Athens, the announcements in the subway are in both Greek and English. I hope you get to visit one day.
