Publishing is a Waiting Game

Everything in the publishing business takes a long time. At least, so it seems to the writer. Well, to this writer.

First it took a long time to sell a book. Then a whole year before it was published. It now seems like eons since Never Resist Temptation hit the bookstores, exactly six months ago. (A period of time that in other aspects of my life seems to have passed in two blinks). And now I have to wait another six months until publication of my next book.

Still, it’s getting closer. I’ve done revisions and copy edits. Proofs will be next. And soon I shall see the cover. When the cover flats arrive from the publisher I shall truly believe The Wild Marquis will see the light of day.

The good news is that next year I have two books scheduled and the wait will be shorter. And because I am writing a series the two are connected. The heroes are a group of Regency noblemen who collect rare books. At the end of the first book they form a club for bibliophiles.
I’ll be writing a lot about these guys and the world of Regency book collecting in the next few months. But in the meantime ....
