Missing Covers

More people are reading digitally these days, including me. Very convenient! But ebooks don't have covers and I miss them. I've had postcards made up with the covers for my last book and my next (coming August 27th). If you'd like me to send you one or both, drop me a note through my contact page with your name and address and I will send you spiffy signed cards.

Hi Miranda!

Ever since our only local bookstore closed and I went "digital" I have missed walking down the aisles and checking out the covers on new releases by my favorite authors (okay I must admit I sometimes also "turned" the books outward so the covers were showing as well). I even on occasion bought a book because of it's cover and yes I do miss those days.

I think it started to be that way back when I was in grade school and fell in love with Dr. Suess back in 1955 when Horton Hears a Who was released and I was 7 years old. I can still remember the teacher having us all sit on the floor in front of her chair and her reading that story to all of us. We were all fascinated and you could have heard a pin drop we were all so quiet while we listened. I can still remember the boys sitting there fascinated by the story instead of poking and prodding each other like they usual did! Most of all I remember the cover of Horton with his curled truck and his big round eyes and most of all him smiling down on us all!

I think all of us who have had the pleasure over the years of enjoying book the beauty of book covers and the feelings they share about the story will miss them and hopefully the next generation to come will have books saved by their ancestors so they can as well!
