Ebooks on Sale
This week my publisher, Avon, put THE WILD MARQUIS on sale. For a while (I don't know how long, but at least through the end of the year) the ebook is available for only $2.99. That's a $5 reduction from the usual $7.99. THE WILD MARQUIS is the first book in my Burgundy Club series so if you've never read me, this is a good place to start. (Here are links to the book at some of the more common sites Nook
Kindle
iTunes Sony )
That's not all. The ebook of my next, CONFESSIONS FROM AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE, is available for pre-order for only $4.99. Again, I don't know how long this price will last but if you pre-order now the price is guaranteed for when the book is released on March 27th. (Kindle
Nook )
I know a lot of readers don't think the ebook should be the same price as the printed one. I think they have a point, given that you can't lend, give away, or resell an ebook. However, I have no control over pricing - it's up to Avon. What do you think? What's the right price for an ebook? Do you even read ebooks? Or will you stick to the printed version till the bitter end?

I've read The Wild Marquis and would happily recommend it to anyone, Cain is adorable. Really looking forward to Confessions.
I think 4.99 is about right for an e-book, Miranda for the reasons you mentioned above, also I don't think the manufacturing costs are the same as for printed books. I think Publishers need rethink this issue ASAP
Thanks, Beebs!
You bring up a good point about manufacturing costs, but I have a counter question. We pay more for a hardcover than a paperback, and more for a "trade" (larger format) paperback than the small mass market ones. Yet the ebook costs the same to produce in each case. So should the ebook be the same price, regardless of the price/format on the printed book? (I don't have an answer BTW. But I'm curious to know what readers think.)
Good question Miranda. I personally don't think the ebook should be as expensive as a printed book in any format. I can't see how charging more for different versions of a book in digital format would work, unless there were extras included in one edition.
I suppose there are people who will think it's unfair if digital readers were paying less than print readers(?) but that is a personal choice, IMHO, in the same way readers choose what format they buy their print editions.
Personally, I still prefer a printed book but I am hoping to get an e-reader soon(heavy hinting, going on).
I've got to admit. I bought the Wild Marquis because it was such a great deal (it's the first book of yours I've read).
I enjoyed it so much (alright I'm about 82% complete) that I went to Amazon to see what other books you have available. I'm pre-ordering Confessions of an Arranged Marriage now.
Honestly, this is the 3rd book I've pre-ordered from authors I haven't bought/read before because it appears Avon is offering such a great deal.
There are *very* few ebooks that I'll pay 7.99 or more for. (especially since Amazon often offers 4 for 3 on the print books making them less expensive (and I only read ebooks anymore).
I'm so glad you discovered me, Anonymous! And thank you for ordering Confessions. I hope you get the chance to read the other Burgundy Club books at some point. I believe we will be a lot of shifting around of ebook prices before they settle down.
